Language Objective: I will write a one-page synopsis for the novel I have written.
Agenda:
1. Bell Work: Instead of your regularly scheduled writing prompt, spend 15 minutes revising the query letter you wrote last period.
2. Share-in/Share-out
3. Book Presentations:
5/15: Amber Barnes, Quain Holtey, and Caleb Read
5/19: Robert Veljak and TJ Tutasi
5/21: Carlos Ochoa and Derek Webb
5/26: Rosie Galvin and Taylor Tracy
5/28: Lia Satele and Teresa Rubio
3. Now that you have your pages and query letter, write a one-page synopsis for your novel. Here are some guidelines:
- a synopsis is more than just a summary; it should show your voice and contain your characters' goals, motivations, conflict
- only name your main character and any other main characters involved
- don't focus on sub plot or side conflicts
- include a hook
- organize logically
- write in third person present
- express the main ideas of your novel in a brief manner, without repetition
- be sure to introduce unique main characters
- avoid cliches: rewrite any cliches you spot into your own voice
- no more than one page single-spaced
- spoilers allowed; include the ending
4. Write your synopsis
5. Peer-review and polish your synopsis
