Content Objective: I can write an effective resume showcasing my qualities to an employer.
Language Objective: I will finalize, edit, and peer review my resume.

Agenda:

1. Read your Quarter 2 Book for 15 minutes.

2. Reading Journal:
What makes a book a “good” book in your opinion? For five minutes, write about specific characteristics a book (or any story, really, if you can’t think of a book) would have to have to make you keep turning pages.

3. Daily Dose of Grammar:

Which sentence is correct?
  1. Him looking cool mattered less to his mother than to him.
  2. His looking cool mattered less to his mother than to him.
  3. He looking cool mattered less to his mother than to him.

4. Finish up your resumes:

Resume Templates: (Choose the one that works best for you; rename it as [Your Name] Resume
  • Template One
  • Template Two
  • Template Three

OPTIONAL: For those who already have a resume: Write a cover letter. Learn how here.

5. Double check your spelling, grammar, and overall formatting (no filler text, everything must be clean and well-formatted.)

6. Peer Review (Share your resume with two partners):
  • What is working well?
  • Is the formatting consistent and clean?
  • Are all skills and qualifications listed in a way that is professional and advantageous?
  • Anything that's missing or could be expanded?

7. Give one, get one:
Write three resume-writing tips on separate sticky notes and exchange them with a partner once the music stops.
